Concrete and effective solutions towards a deeply just, sustainable, democratic and happy society

Welcome to the CosmoPolitical Cooperative!

The CosmoPolitical Cooperative provides concrete and effective solutions towards a deeply just, sustainable, democratic and happy society (the Society of Agreement), at all levels (from the individual to the European Union), and in all forms (documentation, training, products and services, transforming businesses from within, public policy). Our first flagship project is our Sustainable Diet Handbook. Others will follow.

Our European cooperative society is a non-profit organisation that operates within the existing economic, social and political system as an association, a company and a trade union. It transforms this system using democratic means and following a ‘30-40-50 Strategy’ to achieve pan-European democracy, social justice and environmental sustainability by 2030, 2040 and 2050, respectively.

We invite you to imagine, develop or disseminate with us other concrete and effective solutions towards the Society of Agreement. Our IT infrastructure and our operating rules offer you diversified modes of action and commitment levels , and a welcoming, democratic and effective framework for action at the level of the European Union, to achieve this.

In our European Cooperative Society, we cooperate to imagine, develop, implement and disseminate concrete and effective solutions towards a deeply just, sustainable, democratic and happy society (the Society of Agreement). These solutions support the evolution of:

  • individuals towards a fair, sustainable and happy life,
  • businesses and organisations towards operating in a way that respects their human environment (employees, subcontractors, suppliers, customers, neighbours) and non-human environment (climate, biosphere), and
  • the entire economy, society and political system (from the municipality to the European Union) towards social justice, sustainability and democracy.

Our goal is to make the Society of Agreement a reality in the European Union by 2050.

Our goal is to make the Society of Agreement a reality by 2050

We unite people who work and act together – who cooperate – in a democratic manner, across the European Union, to make our vision of a just, sustainable, democratic and happy society for the 21st century, the Society of Agreement, a reality by 2050 or earlier.

The Society of Agreement is based on three mutually supportive pillars:

  1. social justice and confidence in the future for all ;
  2. environmental sustainability, specifically: net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and halting biodiversity loss ;
  3. pan-European democracy in all public institutions and private organisations (including for-profit companies).

The Society of Agreement is deeply different from our contemporary society – for the better! It is also the positive alternative to the global collapse we are heading towards if we do not address the global challenges of the 21st century.

Our first flagship project: the Sustainable Diet Handbook

Food accounts for 32% of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe and 50 to 85% of its impact on the biosphere (depending on the indicators used). It is an area where each and every one of us can take action on a daily basis, by changing the food we consume compared to the current dominant model based on ruminant livestock farming, and achieve significant results without having to consult anyone else.

However, changing your diet is not as simple as it seems. Our fact sheet provides you with basic information on one page, and our Sustainable Diet Handbook explains in detail what to do, why and how.

We invite you to follow the recommendations in this Handbook, sign up for the weekly newsletter which will support you in transforming your diet in the direction it indicates, and to join our Community to spread the word around you.

This project will be followed by others (free software, urban mobility, clothing, etc.).

We operate within the existing system as an association, a company and a trade union

Thanks to our high-level IT infrastructure and our status as a European Cooperative Society (SCE) we operate within the existing economic, social and political system in a democratic, unified and highly diversified manner at the level of the European Union:

  • as an association, developing and disseminating, within the framework of what we call ‘Cooperative Projects’, tools for individual and collective transition towards environmental and social sustainability, such as our first flagship project, the Sustainable Diet Handbook;
  • as a company, by creating a range of sustainable products or services that anticipate those that will become mainstream in the Society of Agreement, as part of what we call ‘Entrepreneurial Prototypes’ (e.g. a pedal scooter for urban multi-modal transport);
  • as an trade union, by engaging in what we call ‘Sustainability Dialogues’ with the management of companies or organisations where we work or with which we interact, around concrete actions towards environmental or social sustainability, which give meaning back to our work and restore our pride in working in this organisation or sector (e.g. a just transition for the automotive sector).

In all our actions, we act together in a democratic manner and respectful of each and every one of us.

We are democratically transforming the system

When the existing legal, regulatory and public budgetary framework hinders the implementation of the characteristics of the Society of Agreement, we transform this framework in a democratic manner, mobilising existing political institutions, from the municipality to the European Union, towards the Society of Agreement.

The transformation process we are promoting follows a long-term ‘30-40-50 Strategy’ and a concrete Development Plan with short-term steps.

In order to implement this ‘30-40-50 Strategy’:

  1. We democratically define concrete, targeted and effective public policies  to achieve the Society of Agreement, integrated into the 30-40-50 Strategy, and we support them in public debate;
  2. We participate in democratic political elections at all levels of public institutions, from the municipality to the European Union, we support our public policies in those elections, and we win positions of responsibility in assemblies and governments;
  3. We exercise political responsibilities in public institutions at all levels to implement these policies and thus transform the European Union and society towards the Society of Agreement, mobilising the powerful and concentrated resources and instruments of public power: regulation, taxation, public spending and investment.

We operate democratically, in accordance with the status of the European Cooperative Society in force throughout the European Union

  • We carry out ourselves, with our own resources and by supporting each other, all actions within our individual and collective capacities that promote the development of the Society of Agreement;
  • We work cooperatively and in a spirit of mutual respect, kindness, encouragement and support, in a safe and trustworthy space, where each person contributes to the common good according to their means and resources;
  • We achieve together what we could never achieve alone: we support each other in our individual transformation towards a just and sustainable life; we transform the economy, society and the political system on a large scale - up to that of the European Union - towards the Society of Agreement;
  • We rigorously apply the democratic principle of ‘one person, one vote’ in all our decision-making processes, at the three key stages of initiative, modification and selection of actions. To this end, our processes and tools ensure a first-in-class internal democracy.
  • Our democracy is deliberative : we give ourselves the means and tools (including software) to discuss freely and in depth among ourselves, learn from each other and thus advance our knowledge and thinking, and then make decisions that commit our entire organisation and are effectively implemented;
  • We are constituted, by virtue of our status as a European Cooperative Society, as a single pan-European organisation recognised in each Member State of the European Union as a cooperative.
