Our method

Our long-term goal of achieving the Society of Agreement by 2050 is very ambitious. What pragmatic and concrete method are we using to move in this direction and achieve our goal on time?

We can summarise our method as follows: a multitude of small steps, all moving in the same direction, which ultimately create positive tipping points when a critical mass has been reached.

The main features of our method are as follows:

  1. Our activity is structured around projects, initiated and led by members of our Community*, in a free and decentralised manner.
  2. The CosmoPolitical Cooperative provides the practical (our IT system) and institutional (our statutes and our code of good conduct) framework, where each member of our Community can freely initiate a project and see it supported by others, or support a project initiated by someone else by participating in the working group set up to develop that project. The Cooperators° decide democratically on the projects to be implemented by the CosmoPolitical Cooperative and the share of common resources to be allocated to them.
  3. Our long-term goal, the Society of Agreement, ensures consistency between the actions carried out by the CosmoPolitical Cooperative and their convergence: all our actions contribute, in their own way, to the realisation of the Society of Agreement. In this spirit, the CosmoPolitical Cooperative also supports any action taken by an external organisation that moves towards the Society of Agreement.
  4. We prioritise actions, such as our first project on a sustainable diet, which:
    • are concrete and effective solutions for improving in a significant way social justice, environmental sustainability, or democratic participation at European level; and/or
    • deliver visible and concrete results in the short term, particularly because they can be decided with the agreement of only a small number of people, with little or no investment; and/or
    • can be implemented by a small group of people who encourage each other; and/or
    • act on an essential lock of the current system, which, once removed, will have a cascade of positive effects.
  5. Thanks to our status as a European cooperative, we are able to mobilise a very wide range of means of action:
    • like an association;
    • like a trade union;
    • like a company and
    • like a political organisation.
  6. We ensure the replication of the actions we carry out, drawing on our European dimension. Each action is accompanied by a "How to" manual, available under a free licence (such as our Sustainable Diet Handbook), so that everyone, even outside the Cooperative, can replicate this action elsewhere than where it was first carried out. This "How to" manual includes recommendations for success, as well as the mistakes we made and the lessons we learned from them. The Cooperative supports not only completely innovative projects, but also the replication, in a new context, and in particular in a new Member State of the European Union, of actions initiated elsewhere.

We are now sharing on this website numerous examples of concrete projects, at all scales, that we propose to work on.

(*) Members of our Community are all persons registered on our platform.

(°) Cooperators are members of the Community whose identity has been verified, who have registered only once (in accordance with the democratic principle of "1 person = 1 vote"), who are citizens of the European Union of legal age, who have purchased at least one share in the Cooperative and who have paid their yearly contribution.
